President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has been presented with a comprehensive plan to overhaul Uzbekistan's national statistics system by 2030, focusing on end-to-end digitalization and reducing administrative burdens on businesses.
The new strategy aims to cut reporting loads for businesses by 20%, increase the share of alternative and administrative data sources by 1.7 times, reduce data processing time by 20%, and trim the statistical system's own costs by 25%.
At the heart of the digital transformation will be the National Data Platform, slated for launch by July 1, 2027, to integrate systems across all government agencies. By the same date, statistical data will be converted into formats suitable for direct analysis by artificial intelligence systems, and specialized AI agents will be deployed to cross-check indicators.
By the end of 2027, all information on demographics, infrastructure, and agriculture will be displayed on digital geospatial maps. To coordinate these efforts, a Data Management Commission is being established. It will conduct an inventory of all departmental systems by December 1 and approve a plan for their improvement by May 1, 2027.
Additionally, a Data-Driven Governance School will be opened to train civil servants, analysts, and journalists, and an open data project office will begin operations.
In 2027–2028, Uzbekistan will conduct the seventh round of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey and, jointly with the IMF, assess the updated statistical system's compliance with international standards.
The head of state emphasized that timely and reliable statistics are a key condition for making sound management decisions and instructed that the planned reforms be fully implemented.
Earlier, it was reported that from October 15 to November 30, Uzbekistan will conduct a business census. This large-scale count will allow for a complete inventory of active economic units, clarify their real status and industry affiliation, and significantly update the country's statistical registers of enterprises and organizations.
