Uzbekistan has proposed changing the procedure for businesses operating on the ground floors of multi-story buildings. Entrepreneurs may be allowed to place certain types of trade and services there without converting residential premises into non-residential stock. It is assumed that a notification will be sufficient for this.

According to the presidential press service, this concerns hairdressers, beauty salons, small shops, tailoring studios, shoe and household appliance repair workshops. Currently, entrepreneurs who want to use a ground-floor apartment for such activities must convert the premises from residential to non-residential stock. This requires a procedure of approvals and permits.

The new procedure should allow avoiding this process for certain types of business. However, the specific list of permitted services and safety requirements still needs to be determined. Responsible bodies have been instructed to develop the corresponding list within a month, as well as to establish requirements that the premises must meet.

Earlier, it was reported that entrepreneurs willing to build schools and kindergartens and provide free education to children from needy families will be offered land plots through auctions with a starting price of 1 million soums.
