Law enforcement authorities in Uzbekistan's Namangan and Fergana regions have intercepted the distribution of 24 kilograms of hashish. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, one of the suspects smuggled 20 kilograms of the drug across the Naryn River from a neighboring country.

In the border area of Namangan region, a 33-year-old resident of Andijan region was detained. According to the MIA, he transported a bag of hashish across the river and hid it under trees approximately 20 meters from the border. The drugs were intended for his accomplices in Andijan and Namangan regions.

The operation continued to apprehend other members of the group. Later in Andijan, a 50-year-old man was detained while receiving 10 kilograms from the previously identified hashish batch.

Another operation took place in Kokand, where a man was detained while attempting to sell hashish for $24,000. In Beshariq district, law enforcement officers detained a 35-year-old suspect while selling another four kilograms of hashish, packaged in four parcels. In total, the volume of drugs prevented from being distributed amounted to 24 kilograms.

Criminal cases have been opened under Article 246 ("Smuggling of narcotic substances on a large scale") and Article 273 ("Illegal manufacture, processing, acquisition, storage and other actions with narcotic substances for the purpose of sale"). The first article provides for 10 to 20 years of imprisonment, the second — from 15 to 20 years. All suspects have been taken into custody.

Earlier it was reported that a large transnational drug network was uncovered in Tashkent. Law enforcement detained 14 alleged members of the group and seized 2.5 kilograms of the synthetic drug "Alpha-PVP".
