A new microdistrict called Uchtepa City, with an estimated cost of $1.5 billion, is planned to be built in the Uchtepa district of Tashkent. The announcement was made by Sharof Rakhmanov, deputy khokim of the capital, during a broadcast on the O’zbekiston 24 TV channel.

In the first phase, a 37-hectare area has been allocated for the project. It will include residential quarters, a business center, hotels, shopping and entertainment complexes, and restaurants. Walking and green zones are also planned.

As part of the project, existing engineering infrastructure will be upgraded and new utility networks laid. After completion, approximately 20,000 jobs are expected to be created in the new microdistrict.

According to Rakhmanov, implementation is set to begin in the near future. The investor is Vietnam's ROX Group, which has previously discussed expanding its presence in Uzbekistan with the authorities.

Earlier, on September 11, Shavkat Mirziyoyev discussed the implementation of current and new investment projects with ROX Group founder Anh Tuan Tran. The parties agreed to accelerate their launch based on a separate "roadmap".
