Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC), the state-owned company operating South Korea's Incheon International Airport, plans to open an office in Tashkent. The office is expected to host a competence center for airport management, digitalization, and personnel training. This move aims to bring Uzbekistan's aviation infrastructure closer to international standards.

The matter was discussed on Tuesday in Seoul during a meeting between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kim Bom Ho, acting president of IIAC. The meeting took place as part of the Uzbek leader's state visit to South Korea. The Korean side expressed readiness to further expand long-term cooperation with Uzbekistan.

Currently, IIAC is involved in projects to modernize Urgench International Airport and construct a new international airport in Tashkent. These projects are a key part of Uzbekistan's strategy to boost its transport potential and become a regional transit hub.

During a meeting between Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kim Bok Hwan, CEO of the Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND), cooperation on developing Uzbekistan's transport and social infrastructure was discussed. In particular, a master plan is being prepared for the development of the area around the new Tashkent international airport. It envisions integrating the airport, logistics hubs, and urban residential infrastructure into a single system.

In addition, the parties are preparing a project to establish a scientific-industrial biocluster that combines science, industry, and modern technologies into a single ecosystem. This is significant for diversifying Uzbekistan's economy and contributing to innovative development.
