The National Press Center of Uzbekistan in Tashkent hosted the official award ceremony for the Atirgul – 2026 republican competition on September 15. Organized by the Journalists' Union of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Committee on Family and Women's Affairs, the contest honors professional achievements of women working in the media and their contribution to the development of the media sphere.

Mila Aksyonova, managing editor of Podrobno.uz, was announced as the winner in the category "Best Journalistic Material in Online Media." The award recognizes her outstanding work and adds to the growing list of female journalists making a mark in Uzbekistan's digital media landscape.

This year, the competition featured 12 nominations covering a wide range of journalistic genres: best television, radio, and print material, investigative journalism, social media project, photojournalism, documentary film or special media project. Separate nominations were dedicated to young and regional journalists, as well as public recognition and a special jury prize.

The Atirgul contest aims to highlight the professional success of women in journalism and to promote their role in shaping the country's information space. The ceremony underscored the increasing visibility and influence of female media professionals in Uzbekistan.
