In the Gulistan district of Syrdarya region, security service officers detained an 18-year-old local resident who attempted to break open an ATM with an axe in the early hours of the morning. The incident occurred on September 12 at around 03:16 on Komiliy Street in the "Oltin Vodiy" mahalla.

An automatic alarm signal from the ATM was received at the security service monitoring center. A rapid response group from the district internal affairs department promptly arrived at the scene. Upon arrival, officers caught the intruder red-handed: a young man wearing gloves and with his face covered was smashing the external panel of the device with an axe and other improvised tools.

Noticing the security officers, he tried to flee but was detained at the scene. The identity of the detainee was quickly established — he turned out to be an 18-year-old local resident. The young man was taken to the Gulistan district internal affairs department, and an inquiry is currently underway.

Recall that since August 6, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan began fining commercial banks for technical failures in ATM operations and late refunds to customers.
