Saida Mirziyoyeva, head of the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan, inspected the territory of a future recreation park being created on the site of the former Silk Research Institute in the Shaykhantahur district of Tashkent. This was reported on her Telegram channel.

“A lake and green areas will appear here, and all amenities will be provided for family recreation, walking with children, and sports,” she said. Saida Mirziyoyeva was accompanied by other representatives of the Presidential Administration, as well as the capital's mayor Shavkat Umurzakov and Deputy Prosecutor General Salom Samadov.

“Tashkent needs more green spaces. Especially in our hot climate, trees, water bodies, and shady areas directly affect the quality of life of the population,” emphasized the head of the administration. “Such areas should be created in all districts of the capital. It is necessary to increase the number of recreation parks in the city, preserve existing green spaces, and create new ecologically clean areas. This is one of the most important directions for the development of Tashkent, and we will firmly continue the work we have started,” she said.

In 2023, a decision was made to relocate the Uzbek Silk Research Institute to the Marhamat district of the Andijan region. At that time, it was reported that 19,000 trees, mainly mulberry, as well as other species, grew on the institute's territory. Its building was constructed in the 1960s. At one time, the institute occupied 100 hectares. As a result of residential development, it has shrunk to less than 20 hectares. Local residents had appealed to grant the territory national park status to preserve the trees and prevent construction.

In May 2025, a project was presented in which the Shaykhantahur district administration announced the creation of an ecopark and a doubling of the number of trees. Tree relocation work had begun. At the same time, the project renderings mentioned an amusement park. Satellite images from this year already show that circular and oval pedestrian paths have been created on the territory. New sketches show a large elongated water body with a fountain and a path around it, as well as a canal with a pool and several small water bodies.
