Uzbekistan's Olympic football team has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Asian Games in Japan after defeating Kuwait 2-0 in their second group-stage match. The victory marks the second consecutive win for Ravshan Haydarov's squad.

Sardorbek Bakhromov was the hero of the match, scoring a brace in the 6th and 36th minutes to give his team a comfortable lead. However, early in the second half, Ruziboy Fayzullaev received a red card, forcing Uzbekistan to play with ten men for the remainder of the game.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, the team held firm and preserved their clean sheet to secure all three points. With six points from two matches, Uzbekistan has guaranteed at least a top-two finish in Group C.

The team will play their final group-stage match against Vietnam on September 22. According to the tournament bracket, the winner of Group C will face the runner-up of Group D in the quarterfinals, while the second-placed team will meet the winner of Group D. Therefore, Uzbekistan's next opponent will be determined after the group stage concludes. Potential rivals include Saudi Arabia or South Korea.

The quarterfinal matches for teams from Groups C and D are scheduled for September 25. Earlier, Uzbekistan opened their campaign with a 5-1 rout of the Philippines.
