The bulk of purchases came from businesses, which bought $34.7 billion. The population purchased $9.6 billion worth of currency over the eight months.

At the same time, Uzbeks were even more active in selling currency. The total supply grew by 25.5% to $38.2 billion. The population sold about $16.6 billion to banks, while companies sold another $21.6 billion.

The dollar exchange rate during January–August ranged from 11,779 to 12,320 soums. By the end of the period, it had risen by 1.5%.

Earlier, the Central Bank changed the procedure for calculating the official exchange rate in Uzbekistan. Starting September 15, transactions on both the currency exchange and the interbank market are taken into account when determining it.
