In a farm located in the "Diqon arna" mahalla of Nukus district, honey processing generates around 200 million soums in annual profit. During the season, about two tons of products are sold, and up to 80 million soums in additional revenue comes from the production of more than 250 beehives.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the development of the mahalla on September 18 during his trip to Karakalpakstan. At the farm, he was shown honey processing and beehive production. Currently, more than 20 families in the mahalla are engaged in beekeeping, with some farms producing up to a ton of honey annually. By the end of the year, another 100 households are planned to be involved in beekeeping.
Beekeeping has been identified as the main focus of the "One Mahalla – One Product" program in the mahalla. The Beekeepers Association plans to organize bee breeding in new farms on a cooperative basis. This is expected to boost incomes and employment.
During the visit, the president also met with mahalla activists, representatives of the older generation, and youth. The presidential press service stated that further development of the Aral Sea region and improving the living standards of its population remain among the priorities of state policy.
Recall that in Kegeyli district, 50 families from the Social Register were given the opportunity to grow products in greenhouses on plots of ten sotkas each. Training was organized for them, and conditions were created for selling the harvest at market prices. For the creation of a five-hectare greenhouse complex, 12.5 billion soums in preferential funds were allocated.
