Tashkent is continuing its efforts to improve traffic flow. According to the press service of the Traffic Management Center (TMC), on a 2-kilometer section from Furkat Street to Shota Rustaveli Street, specialists adjusted the operation of 9 traffic lights and synchronized them according to the direction of traffic flow during morning and evening hours.

The system is configured for an average speed of about 45-55 km/h. In the morning, it operates in the direction from Furkat Street to Shota Rustaveli Street, and in the evening — in the opposite direction, from Shota Rustaveli to Furkat. This allows drivers to travel through the section without stopping at red lights.

As a result, travel time on the section during peak hours decreased from 9 to 7 minutes. «Drivers now cover the section 2 minutes faster, and the total travel time has been reduced by more than a fifth — by about 22%. For comparison, when roads are free, this section is usually traversed in 6–7 minutes. After setting up the 'Green Wave', even during peak hours, travel time dropped to about 7 minutes. That is, the congested section is now covered almost as quickly as outside peak hours,» the TMC noted.

Currently, work on the consistent adjustment and synchronization of traffic lights on Tashkent streets continues. It is expected that similar measures will be implemented on other busy sections of the capital's roads.
