A tragic road accident occurred in the Zomin district of Jizzakh region, involving two Lacetti cars and a truck, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old passenger. The incident took place on the night of September 26-27 in the "Yoshlik" mahalla area.

According to media reports, one of the Lacetti cars was driven by a 27-year-old inspector of the Jizzakh Regional Road Safety Department, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. The 34-year-old driver of the first Lacetti had reportedly stopped behind a truck that was making a left turn. At that moment, the stationary car was rear-ended by another Lacetti driven by the inspector.

After the collision, the first Lacetti crashed into the truck. The 35-year-old passenger, a father of three, sustained severe injuries and was taken to intensive care. Despite medical efforts, he died in hospital.

Investigative actions are underway. The circumstances of the accident and the degree of guilt of those involved are being established. The alleged involvement of a law enforcement officer in a drunken state raises serious concerns about discipline within the traffic police force.

This tragedy once again highlights the urgent need to improve road safety and combat drunk driving, especially among officials. The public demands a thorough and impartial investigation, with those responsible held accountable.
