Authorities in Tashkent have officially signed a consultancy contract for the construction of a new 265-bed oncology center. The facility is set to become an essential component of a broader medical cluster currently being established in the capital through cooperation with the Export-Import Bank of Korea.
According to the Ministry of Health's press service, the document was signed by Health Minister Eldor Adilov and Lee Won-seok, Vice President of the South Korean firm AUM & LEE Architects & Associates. During the meeting, the parties thoroughly discussed the upcoming phases of construction and operational planning.
The AUM & LEE consortium will provide comprehensive consulting services covering architectural design, construction management and oversight, medical equipment procurement, and the planning of healthcare services and information systems. Furthermore, specialized training programs encompassing medical service quality, radiology, nuclear medicine, and radiation therapy are planned for the center's personnel in three distinct stages.
It is worth noting that back in September, an official launch ceremony for joint Uzbek-Korean manufacturing ventures and construction projects took place, attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo (reported locally as Han Sung-sook). These parallel initiatives include the ongoing development of the National Oncology Center and a higher medical educational institution in Tashkent.
