Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Baxtiyor Saidov held telephone conversations with counterparts from Middle East countries on March 1. He discussed the regional situation and conveyed President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's messages of support and solidarity.
The talks emphasized the importance of respecting state sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the need to resolve all issues exclusively through peaceful, political-diplomatic means in full compliance with international law to ensure regional stability.
Saidov also spoke with Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. They noted shared positions on protecting state sovereignty and territorial integrity, strict adherence to international law, and commitment to resolving all tensions through dialogue and diplomatic means.
Previously, Uzbekistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed "serious concern" over the sharp deterioration of the situation in the Middle East following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran and Iran's retaliatory strikes on regional countries. The ministry called on parties to refrain from further steps that could lead to dangerous escalation with unpredictable military-political and humanitarian consequences.
Uzbekistan consistently advocates for strengthening regional stability and security and hopes for a swift normalization of the situation, as stated in the declaration.
