Following recent unverified reports circulating on social media regarding a suspected case of plague in the Russian city of Irkutsk, the Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Committee of Uzbekistan has announced that the domestic epidemiological situation remains stable and under control, asserting there is currently no cause for public alarm.

Nurmat Atabekov, First Deputy Chairman of the Sanitary Committee, allegedly stated that the country faces no immediate threat. To prevent the importation and spread of highly dangerous infectious diseases, authorities maintain that 53 sanitary control checkpoints are operating across state borders, including international airports, railway stations, and highway crossings, to continuously monitor individuals entering the republic.

According to data provided by the World Health Organization and Russian health agencies, investigations are purportedly ongoing regarding the death of a medical laboratory employee in the Irkutsk region. WHO representatives noted that while the victim worked with dangerous pathogens, the official cause of death has not been definitively linked to the plague, and no infectious agents have been detected among those who came into contact with the deceased.

In response to the hypothetical risks, Uzbekistan's regional sanitary and epidemiological services have reportedly equipped their specialized laboratories with necessary diagnostic tools, culture media, and reagents to ensure rapid detection capabilities against any potential introduction of dangerous pathogens.
