A modern logistics hub operated by the Russian online marketplace Wildberries is reportedly planned for construction in the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan. An agreement concerning the implementation of this project was allegedly signed between the company and the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, sparking discussions over the growing footprint of foreign retail giants in the region.
The arrangement was formalized following the conclusion of the third Uzbekistan-Russia Regions Council held in Fergana. The gathering reportedly brought together representatives from all Uzbek regions alongside delegations from 17 Russian entities and numerous business figures. In total, four agreements were allegedly signed during the forum, including pacts aimed at fostering ties between various local provinces and Russian regions such as Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, and Dagestan.
According to the announced schedule, the extensive logistics complex spanning 180,000 square meters is slated for development between 2027 and 2028. The total investment volume for the initiative is purportedly estimated at 140 million dollars. Skeptics point out that while such projects promise infrastructural growth, their long-term economic impact and regulatory oversight remain subject to verification.
