Renowned theater and film actor and director Olim Khodjayev was born on October 7, 1910, in Bukhara, although some historical sources cite September 24 as his birth date. His artistic journey began after graduating from the Bukhara Pedagogical College in 1929, after which he dedicated his entire life to the advancement of national performing arts.
Until 1977, the artist worked extensively at the Hamza Theater, bringing more than a hundred diverse characters to life on stage. His memorable performances in classical and contemporary productions such as 'Alisher Navoi', 'Hamza', and Shakespeare’s 'Hamlet' earned widespread acclaim. Furthermore, as a director, he successfully staged plays including 'Abu Rayhan Beruni', 'Secrets of the Heart', and 'The Landlord and the Hired Hand'.
Olim Khodjayev also made substantial contributions to the development of national cinematography, appearing in a wide array of feature films. In 1956, he starred in 'Abu Ali ibn Sina' and 'Kutlug Kan', followed by appearances in 'Children', 'The Poet's Fate', 'Second Spring', 'Hamza', the popular comedy 'Yor-Yor', and 'Ulugbek's Star'.
His extensive filmography also features notable pictures such as 'Leaving the Darkness', 'Hope', and 'Rustam and Sohrab'. For his exceptional services to art, he was awarded the Order 'Buyuk Hizmatlari uchun' (For Great Services) and passed away in 1977, leaving behind a rich cultural heritage.
