President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on October 7 focusing on the organization of the newly established Ministry of Education and Science and the priority tasks facing the national educational system. The leadership emphasized the necessity of strengthening continuity across all stages of learning, from preschool to higher education.
As previously reported, a presidential decree merged the Ministry of Preschool and School Education with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation into a single agency. This structural consolidation purportedly aims to streamline management approaches and elevate human capital development to a new level, despite potential bureaucratic hurdles in merging large administrative bodies.
During the presentation, officials discussed strategies to eliminate overlapping functions, digitize administrative processes, and increase the accountability of regional offices. Emphasizing a data-driven approach, the administration allegedly seeks to adapt educational content to labor market demands and expand private sector participation.
Furthermore, the discussions covered updating school curricula, implementing artificial intelligence tools to assist educators, upgrading vocational training programs, and expanding the institutional autonomy of universities to foster closer ties with industrial sectors.
