A severe traffic accident occurred on October 10, 2026, at approximately 09:40 AM in the Bulakbashi district of the Andijan region, involving a heavy-duty truck and multiple passenger vehicles. The incident took place on Konchilar Street within the "Neftchilar" mahalla, causing significant disruption and loss of life. Preliminary reports suggest that the braking system of a HOWO heavy truck, loaded with soil and driven by a 48-year-old driver, experienced a catastrophic failure while traveling in the direction of "Neftchilar — Kulla".
Having lost control, the massive vehicle veered into the oncoming traffic lane, colliding violently with several cars including Cobalt, Nexia, BYD Song Plus, and Nexia-2 models. The truck then plowed into a row of parked vehicles on the right roadside, specifically damaging Nexia-3, Damas, and Matiz cars. The chain reaction of collisions was so intense that commercial shops situated along the roadside also sustained considerable structural and mechanical damage.
Authorities confirmed that three individuals died at the scene as a result of the multi-vehicle collision. The truck driver, alongside three other citizens, sustained various injuries and was rushed to the district hospital for emergency medical treatment. In response to the tragedy, the investigative department under the Bulakbashi District Internal Affairs Department initiated a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 266 of the Criminal Code.
Comprehensive preliminary investigations are currently underway to establish all contributing factors and exact circumstances surrounding the crash. Law enforcement agencies have strongly urged motorists to strictly monitor the technical condition of their vehicles, reiterating that operating machinery with defective braking systems poses a lethal threat to public safety.
