Opener Fakhar Zaman overcame a troublesome knee injury and a prolonged slump in form to score a magnificent 127, guiding Pakistan to a tense three-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the final of the one-day international cricket tri-series in Lahore.
Zaman’s entertaining knock, combined with Arafat Minhas’s robust 61 off just 31 deliveries, propelled Pakistan to a successful run chase of 331-7 in 48.3 overs. The task for the chasing side was somewhat aided by heavy dew, which rendered the ball wet and slippery for the Sri Lankan bowling attack.
Earlier in the match, Sri Lanka posted a competitive total of 325-8, bolstered by Kamindu Mendis’s maiden ODI century. Despite setting a formidable target while batting first for the first time in the tournament, the bowling unit struggled to maintain control under the damp evening conditions.
Meanwhile, the participating English team suffered an early exit from the competition after managing to lose three out of their four matches, highlighting ongoing inconsistencies in their limited-overs setup.
