A tragic traffic accident involving minor schoolchildren occurred late at night in the Termez district of the Surkhandarya region. According to the regional Road Safety Department, the incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding parental supervision and underage driving.

Reports indicate that a 10th-grade student born in 2010, attending one of the schools in the city of Termez, took his mother's Cobalt vehicle and drove at a dangerous speed through the Termez district. Lacking driving experience, the teenager lost control of the automobile, causing it to violently crash into a roadside lighting pole situated in the middle of the road.

Footage released by traffic authorities shows that the impact completely shattered and mangled the vehicle beyond recognition. The driver's classmate, who was riding as a passenger, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene before medical assistance could arrive.

Meanwhile, the 16-year-old driver was rushed to the intensive care unit of a local hospital in critical condition. Law enforcement agencies have initiated a criminal case regarding the incident, and a thorough investigation is currently underway to determine the exact factors leading to the catastrophe.
