According to Central Bank data, the official dollar exchange rate in Uzbekistan declined by 0.7% (88.59 soum) in February — from 12,225.16 to 12,136.57 soum. In January, the soum had depreciated by 1.6%.
Economist Mirkomil Kholboyev noted that the exchange rate showed relative stability in February: the soum strengthened in 10 trading sessions and depreciated in 10 others. Average daily volatility was 0.21%, the lowest for the soum-dollar pair since May 2024.
Among the currencies of key trade partners, the Chinese yuan strengthened by 1.6%, while the Russian ruble and Kazakh tenge depreciated by 0.1%. Among global currencies, the British pound fell by 1.2%, the Japanese yen by 0.6%, and the euro by 0.2%.
