Apple has introduced the new iPhone 17e smartphone, positioned as the most affordable model in the current 17th-generation lineup. The device features updated hardware, including a proprietary processor and a new type of cellular modem.
The smartphone is equipped with a 3-nanometer A19 chip with a 6-core central and 4-core graphics processor. According to the manufacturer, CPU performance is twice that of the iPhone 11. A key feature is the built-in Apple C1X cellular modem, which operates twice as fast as the version in the iPhone 16e and consumes 30 percent less energy than similar solutions in the iPhone 16 Pro.
The 48-megapixel main camera allows for photos with 2x optical zoom and 4K Dolby Vision video recording. The system supports automatic depth recognition for creating portraits of people and animals. The 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display is protected by new Ceramic Shield 2 glass, which the company claims is three times more scratch-resistant and has improved anti-glare properties.
The iPhone 17e is housed in an aerospace-grade aluminum body with IP68 water and dust resistance. The device supports MagSafe wireless charging up to 15W and features an Action button for quick access to functions. On the software side, it uses the iOS 26 operating system with integrated Apple Intelligence AI features, including real-time translation and visual search tools.
The smartphone will be available in black, white, and pink with a matte finish. The base model now comes with 256GB of storage, double the starting memory of the previous generation while maintaining the same price. Pre-orders will open on Wednesday, March 4, with official sales starting on March 11. The starting price in the U.S. will be $599.
