In Uzbekistan, large-scale inspections of the housing stock ahead of the upcoming heating season have revealed hundreds of thousands of safety rule violations. These preventive measures are reportedly being carried out to prevent fires and cases of carbon monoxide poisoning during the autumn-winter period, addressing long-standing infrastructure concerns across the country.

Interim results of the preparations for the 2026/2027 heating season were presented by representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations during a press conference in Tashkent. Specialists have already inspected more than 20,000 multi-story residential buildings, approximately 900,000 apartments, and 1.5 million private households. Inspectors focused heavily on the operability of gas equipment, heating stoves, as well as the condition of chimneys and ventilation channels.

To date, out of the 607.6 thousand shortcomings discovered, utility services and housing owners have managed to eliminate about 536.6 thousand. Similar inspections were also conducted at social facilities. In kindergartens, schools, universities, and medical institutions, rescue workers recorded 137,000 violations, nearly 90% of which have already been rectified.

Representatives of the Ministry emphasized that over 70% of all fires in the country occur specifically within the residential sector, and urged residents of the republic to strictly comply with the rules for operating heating appliances and to check ventilation systems in a timely manner. Earlier, the Ministry recommended that residents install gas analyzers at home near gas stoves and heating devices.
