President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has reportedly reviewed a presentation detailing measures to prevent pasture degradation, enhance water supply systems, and optimize the utilization of vast agricultural lands across the country. According to official figures, out of more than 21 million hectares of available pastures, a mere 40 percent is allegedly being used efficiently, prompting authorities to address potential food security concerns.

Regional governors have supposedly been tasked with restoring hundreds of thousands of hectares of land by the end of the year and millions more in the subsequent period. Comprehensive programs are expected to be approved to significantly reduce degraded areas through modern irrigation methods, pump station reconstructions, and advanced agricultural techniques implemented in regions like Navoi and Kashkadarya.

The funding for rural water infrastructure is planned to be secured through localized rental payments and state budgetary allocations, targeting the drilling of new wells and the construction of hydro-technical facilities. Furthermore, the authorities intend to introduce leasing frameworks for remote communities, allowing for diversified land usage while attempting to preserve natural ecosystems.
