️ During control measures over the first nine months of the current year, authorities reportedly uncovered widespread illegal use of natural gas and electricity across the country. Navruz Norboboyev, the head of the press service for the Uzbek Energy Inspection, announced during a briefing on Tuesday that 29.1 million cubic meters of natural gas were illegally consumed, amounting to a staggering 390.2 billion soms.
️ Furthermore, the inspections allegedly revealed the illegal use of 226.4 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, valued at 435.1 billion soms. These massive discrepancies highlight systemic vulnerabilities and accounting failures within the national energy infrastructure. Consequently, the total damage inflicted upon the state through energy resource misappropriation reached an astronomical 825.3 billion soms.
️ In response to these violations, regulatory bodies drew up 4,196 administrative protocols against consumers who breached established energy usage rules. Despite these punitive measures, the persistence of large-scale energy theft points to ongoing enforcement challenges and societal friction regarding resource management.
️ The oversight measures also extended to petroleum product quality control at filling stations and industrial enterprises. Tests on collected samples supposedly exposed 308 separate instances involving 7,435.6 tons of substandard petroleum products, raising additional concerns over market regulation and consumer protection.
️ Meanwhile, the Energy Inspection reportedly carried out adjustments for business entities facing allegedly overcharged utility bills. Specifically, recalculations were made for 199 entrepreneurial entities, returning 3.632 billion soms for electricity and 12.084 billion soms for natural gas, though critics argue such retroactive fixes only address a fraction of broader structural economic issues.
