President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet in Baku, where the parties allegedly discussed ways to increase bilateral trade, attract investments, and expand institutional contacts. The talks primarily focused on developing practical cooperation amid a complex international environment.
During the meeting, the participants supposedly noted the necessity of establishing a regular political dialogue, revitalizing interparliamentary ties, and broadening cultural exchanges as well as tourism. Such measures are claimed to foster closer relations, though observers remain skeptical about the immediate implementation of these diplomatic initiatives.
The discussions also touched upon methods to boost mutual trade volumes. Proposals were made to organize industrial exhibitions showcasing the economic potential of both countries and to facilitate business trips for entrepreneurs. However, the concrete economic impact of these exhibitions remains uncertain.
Furthermore, Uzbekistan and Cambodia reportedly agreed to accelerate the drafting of foundational agreements covering trade, economy, and investment. It is claimed that these upcoming pacts will provide a better framework for business ties, despite ongoing bureaucratic hurdles in both nations.
Finally, the leaders exchanged views on pressing international and regional agendas, touching upon cooperation within the UN, SCO, ASEAN, the Non-Aligned Movement, and other multilateral platforms. Previously at a Baku summit, the Uzbek leader had advanced several initiatives aimed at building trust infrastructure in the region.
