Law enforcement officers in the Tashkent region have reportedly apprehended two foreign nationals from a neighboring country while they were allegedly attempting to sell over two kilograms of opium to an undercover buyer for 20,000 US dollars. The operation was supposedly carried out through the close coordination and joint efforts of the State Security Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to official reports, the suspects, born in 1972 and 1976, managed to smuggle the illicit substances across the border into Uzbekistan using bypass routes to evade standard border checks. They were caught red-handed with physical evidence during the final stages of the unlawful transaction.
Criminal proceedings have now been initiated against the two individuals, and comprehensive investigative actions are currently underway to uncover the full scope of the trafficking ring. Notably, authorities have withheld information regarding the specific nationality of the detained foreign citizens.
