Entrepreneurs in Uzbekistan have been officially relieved of the obligation to obtain advertising passports for placing signboards on their business premises. According to the Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee, under a recent government resolution, informational signs displaying a company's name and specialization on the exterior of its building are no longer classified as outdoor advertising objects.
The newly introduced regulations also aim to curb arbitrary practices during the dismantling of outdoor advertising structures, which had previously sparked widespread discontent among business owners. A strict procedure has been established: mandatory dismantling can only be carried out on weekdays between 09:00 and 18:00, requiring a written notice to the owner two days in advance and the compilation of an official report on-site.
Furthermore, the design code project for Tashkent remains open for public discussion until December 10. Officials purportedly claim that decisions regarding the design code will only be adopted after public hearings and will take effect three months after publication, a measure allegedly designed to give businesses adequate time to adapt.
