Operatives from the Customs Committee’s Counter-Smuggling Department, in close cooperation with the State Security Service and internal affairs agencies, have conducted a major targeted search operation. The intervention successfully dismantled an illicit narcotics distribution scheme operating within the capital.

During the operation, carried out at a hotel located in Tashkent’s Yakkasaray district, authorities exposed a clandestine transaction involving a substantial quantity of illegal drugs. A suspect under ongoing surveillance attempted to sell three packages containing hashish, with a total weight of 1 kilogram and 233 grams.

The individual was apprehended red-handed while accepting a portion of the agreed payment in exchange for the narcotics. Subsequent background checks revealed that the suspect had a prior criminal record for large-scale illegal drug trafficking, indicating a continued disregard for the law.

The Customs Committee has initiated a criminal case regarding the incident, and ongoing investigative actions are underway to uncover further potential accomplices. Official reports indicate that since the beginning of the year, customs authorities, alongside partnering law enforcement agencies, have suppressed 844 cases involving the illicit trafficking of over 2.2 tons of narcotics, psychotropic substances, and potent drugs.
