Authorities in the historic city of Samarkand have announced periodic traffic restrictions on entry points and numerous central streets due to upcoming major international events. The Ministry of Internal Affairs released an official advisory detailing the measures and urging residents and visitors to plan their commutes accordingly.
The restrictions are tied to a series of high-profile gatherings, notably the C5+1 ministerial meeting involving Central Asian nations and the US regime's top diplomats scheduled for October 19–20. Furthermore, the city is purportedly set to host a global summit dedicated to children's welfare and future on October 21–22, prompting heightened security protocols across the region.
Specifically, traffic will be restricted between October 18 and October 22 along key thoroughfares, including Ibn Sino, Bustonsaroy, University Boulevard, Registan, Afrosiyob, Namozgoh, Sadriddin Ayniy, Shahbot, Usta Umar Jurakulov, Shahizinda, Mirzo Ulugbek, Beruniy, Dagbit, Rudakiy, Golobod, and Oydin Yuli streets. Alternative routes have been designated for civilian drivers, while transit vehicles passing through the Samarkand region are instructed to follow redirected pathways.
Authorities specified that only emergency response and specialized operational vehicles will be granted exemptions to bypass the checkpoints. The ministry has called upon motorists and city guests to exercise patience regarding the temporary inconveniences and to strictly comply with the directives of law enforcement personnel stationed to secure the transport corridors.
