During his working visit to the Samarkand region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the ongoing construction of a major bridge over the Qoradaryo River. According to the press service of the head of state, the new infrastructure project is designed to connect the Shirin residential district directly with downtown Samarkand and the international airport, aiming to optimize traffic flow and alleviate congestion.

The project, valued at 310 billion soms, spans 780 meters in length, 29.8 meters in width, and stands 2 meters high. Featuring four traffic lanes, the bridge is engineered to handle up to 25,000 vehicles daily. Once operational, the route from Shirin to the city center is expected to shrink from 23 kilometers to just 4 kilometers, cutting travel time by 30 minutes.

At the construction site, officials briefed the president on the technical specifications and traffic management systems. Later, the president held a meeting with local activists, emphasizing the growth of the tourism sector—pointing out an increase from 1.2 million to 5 million annual visitors—and stressing the importance of maintaining competitiveness in the modern global economy.

Concurrently, the administration previously highlighted delays and sluggish development in the Shirin housing mass, noting a lack of proactive measures from state agencies. Consequently, it was announced that the investment incentives and privileges previously granted to the New Tashkent project will now be extended to the Shirin district to attract private capital and accelerate regional development.
