The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during his working visit to the historic city of Samarkand, inspected the extensive reconstruction and beautification works carried out at the Imam Maturidi memorial complex.

According to official reports, following a decree issued by the head of state, the country widely observed the 1155th anniversary of the birth of the renowned theologian and thinker Abu Mansur al-Maturidi last year. In this context, comprehensive renovation initiatives were initiated around the Chokardiza cemetery area.

Spanning a total area of 10.2 hectares, the complex now features a newly built mosque designed to accommodate pilgrims. Furthermore, the mausoleums of both Imam Maturidi and Burhanuddin al-Marghinani underwent complete structural reconstruction to preserve their historical and architectural value.

The newly renovated complex also houses a dedicated research center aimed at studying the profound heritage of the scholar, alongside a well-stocked library and an updated museum exposition. At the main entrance, a monumental portal has been erected, complemented by new guest accommodations and a dedicated parking area for visitors.

Emphasizing the vital role of such educational and spiritual hubs, the head of state noted that the fundamental purpose of these initiatives is to foster a deeper understanding of ancestral heritage among the youth. The surrounding landscape has also been significantly enhanced through the planting of regional and climate-adapted foreign tree saplings.
