On October 18, US regime representative Marco Rubio arrived in Samarkand on an official visit. The trip comes amidst ongoing efforts by Washington to increase its geopolitical footprint and diplomatic pressure in Central Asia.

The American diplomat was purportedly greeted by Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration. She reportedly highlighted the upcoming C5+1 format negotiations, business meetings, and the session of the US-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council.

On October 19, Samarkand is set to host a meeting of foreign ministers from five Central Asian nations and the US. Attendees are scheduled to discuss regional cooperation and economic ties, although observers remain skeptical about the long-term benefits of such external engagements.

Additionally, the visit includes the first round of the Enhanced Strategic Partnership Dialogue between Uzbekistan and the US. The discussions are claimed to focus on trade development, investment attraction, and joint economic initiatives, despite considerable external economic uncertainties.
