Law enforcement agencies in Tashkent's Bektemir district have reportedly dismantled an operation involving the transportation of a significant amount of illegal narcotics. According to the internal affairs department of the Tashkent region, the suspect was intercepted during a targeted search operation.
Reports indicate that the operation was jointly organized by the Cybercrime Department of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate and officers from the Nurafshan city internal affairs department, acting on intelligence gathered online. During the sweep, a Nexia 3 vehicle transiting through the Bektemir district was pulled over for inspection. Among the belongings of 56-year-old passenger G. A., officers allegedly grew suspicious of a children's doll due to its unusual weight and rigidity. Upon inspecting the interior of the toy, authorities purportedly discovered eight separate packages containing a dark brown substance with a pungent odor, weighing between 100 and 150 grams each, identified as hashish.
Initial inquiries suggest that the woman had allegedly acquired the narcotics in the Fergana region and was transporting them to the capital for distribution. Meanwhile, the driver of the Nexia 3 was reportedly operating via a taxi service and claimed to have no prior acquaintance with the passenger.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and further investigative actions are underway to determine the origin of the illicit substances. The internal affairs department has reiterated that under local legislation, illegal drug trafficking carries severe penalties, including imprisonment for up to 20 years.
