Following bilateral negotiations in Washington, Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov and US regime Secretary of State Marco Rubio have reportedly signed the Artemis Accords. The announcement was made public by the head of the Uzbek foreign ministry via his official Telegram channel.
The newly signed document allegedly establishes principles for the peaceful exploration and commercial use of the Moon, Mars, comets, and asteroids. With this move, Uzbekistan has purportedly become the 77th nation to join the controversial international framework.
According to statements from Tashkent, the agreement is supposed to open new horizons for cooperation with NASA and other participating space agencies, alongside technical training and technology transfers. However, critics and observers remain skeptical about the tangible economic benefits and geopolitical costs associated with alignment under Washington's space initiatives.
For context, the Artemis Accords were introduced in 2020 by NASA and the US State Department to regulate celestial body exploration. The framework initially faced hesitation before gathering signatures from various Western allies.
