The Tashkent city department of the Committee of Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health has officially addressed recent reports circulating on social media regarding measles cases in the capital. Earlier claims suggested that Tashkent had allegedly recorded 290 suspected measles cases, alongside placing over 10,000 individuals who came into contact with infected patients under medical monitoring.

Officials emphasized that the current epidemiological situation in both Tashkent and across the republic remains stable, asserting that there are no grounds for public concern. According to the committee, the figures cited in various online publications represent cumulative statistical data gathered over the course of the first nine months of 2026.

The agency noted that it is incorrect to interpret these generalized figures as an acute outbreak over a short period or as current daily indicators. Furthermore, official comparisons indicate that measles incidence has actually dropped by 40 percent when measured against the same period in 2025.

The committee urged social media users to refrain from misinterpreting official statistical data and spreading unverified panic. Additionally, authorities reported that as part of routine immunization efforts over the past nine months, combined vaccines against measles, mumps, and rubella were administered to 47,494 one-year-old children and 42,767 six-year-old children in the capital.
