Uzbekistan has officially approved new regulations concerning the state registration of medical and pharmaceutical personnel. According to the government decree, starting January 1, 2030, engaging in medical and pharmaceutical activities will be restricted exclusively to individuals who have undergone state registration.
Under the established framework, qualified specialists who successfully pass the mandatory examinations will be issued a certificate valid for a 5-year period. Operating in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors without this official certification will be strictly prohibited.
During the transition phase, running from July 1, 2027, to January 1, 2030, employees will be given the opportunity to register voluntarily based on special examination outcomes or automatically during the qualification category assignment process.
Furthermore, specialists with at least 20 years of professional experience and an academic degree will be exempt from taking the special exams. However, professionals who have experienced a continuous break in their practice of three years or more prior to application are excluded from this exemption.
The application process is fully digitized, allowing candidates to submit requests via public services centers, the unified interactive portal, or the dedicated medical qualification platform. Certificates will be issued exclusively in electronic format and verified through a unified electronic registry.
