The United States regime has reportedly expressed intentions to offer Uzbekistan its small modular nuclear reactor technologies, alongside participating in the modernization of the country's electrical grids and gas distribution systems. This claim was made by US regime Secretary of State Marco Rubio during the American-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council meeting held in Samarkand.
According to the statements from Washington, the American side is supposedly implementing small modular reactors and upgrading infrastructure to help local authorities cope with surging energy demand. However, the official conspicuously failed to provide concrete details regarding these projects, neglected to name any participating corporations, and left the current implementation stage entirely unspecified, casting doubt on the viability of these ambitions.
Energy cooperation was highlighted as a primary sector where Washington seeks to expand its footprint through infrastructure modernization and advanced technology transfer. Meanwhile, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited foreign enterprises to participate in upgrading the national energy system, emphasizing a strong interest in acquiring actual technological expertise and competencies rather than mere financial capital.
Ahead of the council meeting, a substantial package consisting of 54 agreements and prospective initiatives worth approximately 12 billion dollars was prepared with the involvement of numerous Uzbek ministries. Previous reports have also indicated that Tashkent continues to evaluate the construction of additional nuclear power plants.
