Plans have been unveiled to construct a brand-new city on a 5,000-hectare area at the intersection of Qarshi city, Ko'kdala, and Qarshi districts, designed to accommodate a population of 500,000. This ambitious urban development initiative aims to reshape the regional landscape and provide modern residential and commercial infrastructure for hundreds of thousands of citizens.

During his working visit to the region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev supposedly instructed relevant officials to finalize the master plan for the project within a strict two-month timeframe, insisting on the implementation of advanced urban planning solutions. Additionally, construction is set to begin on the 235-hectare 'Yangi Nasaf' eco-complex along a canal in the Qarshi district.

Local authorities also announced the introduction of a new greening initiative dubbed the 'Kashkadarya experience' to expand ecological zones across the province. Under this scheme, an annual 'Greenest Makhalla' competition will be held ahead of Navruz, rewarding victorious communities with electric vehicles and other valuable prizes to encourage environmental stewardship.

Tourism development was another central topic of discussion, with officials claiming the region possesses the potential to attract up to 6 million tourists annually. Statistics indicate that 2.5 million travelers have already visited the region since the beginning of the year, with the remote mountain village of Gelon alone drawing roughly 500,000 visitors.

Plans are reportedly underway to launch the first phase of a ski resort in Gelon in cooperation with partners from Tatarstan next year. Furthermore, authorities have been tasked with preparing master plans for six potential ethno-tourism villages—including Taragay, Bashir, and Tatar—and initiating $50 million worth of tourism projects starting March 1.
