Law enforcement authorities in the Andijan region of Uzbekistan have intercepted a major drug trafficking attempt, arresting two local residents red-handed while they were allegedly trying to sell nearly two kilograms of hashish. According to official reports, the suspects demanded 18,000 US dollars for the narcotics consignment before being cornered by security forces.
During the apprehension process, the suspects reportedly put up active physical resistance and attempted to flee the scene to evade justice. However, coordinated efforts by the State Security Service, border troops, and the internal affairs department successfully thwarted their escape attempt and brought the operation to a close without further escalation.
Authorities revealed that the detainees are residents of the Pakhtabad district, aged 30 and 38. A criminal case has been initiated against both individuals under anti-drug trafficking legislation, which carries a maximum penalty of up to 20 years in prison. The suspects have been placed in pretrial detention while the investigation proceeds.
