During a high-level meeting dedicated to the socio-economic development of the Kashkadarya region, Uzbek leadership addressed one of the area's most pressing challenges: reliable access to drinking water. Authorities issued directives to finalize the construction of 747 kilometers of water and sewage networks alongside 43 facilities within a strict two-month timeframe, utilizing a previously allocated budget of 1 trillion soums.

These ongoing efforts are projected to supply clean drinking water to 200,000 residents by the end of the year. Furthermore, 100 billion soums have been earmarked to launch a pipeline project connecting the Hisarak reservoir to Karshi city as well as the Kamashi, Guzar, and Karshi districts. Officials were tasked with attracting an additional $210 million to successfully execute the initiative, which aims to benefit another 350,000 people.

A separate comprehensive project is underway to upgrade the water supply systems for 700,000 inhabitants across the Nishan, Kasbi, Mirishkor, Mubarek, and Karshi districts through the reconstruction of the Tolimarjon–Mubarek water network. Technoeconomic assessments for this project are scheduled for completion by April 1, with targeted foreign investments reaching $150 million.

Infrastructure and transport modernization also form a core component of the regional development strategy. Backed by the Asian Development Bank, a $350 million reconstruction initiative will target a 100-kilometer segment of the A-380 highway passing through the region. Additionally, plans include extending Karshi's bypass road by 5.5 kilometers and constructing two modern overpasses valued at 250 billion soums to alleviate severe congestion at critical railway crossings.
