Authorities in Uzbekistan have introduced comprehensive new regulations governing the operation, registration, and technical maintenance of elevators in multi-apartment residential buildings. Under a cabinet decree adopted on October 22, construction companies will now be legally required to provide maintenance services for elevators in newly commissioned residential blocks for a period of one full year.

In an effort to allegedly bring transparency and digital oversight to the sector, the purchase and sale of elevators and their spare parts will be transitioned to a dedicated electronic platform named "Safe Elevator", developed by the Ministry of Construction and Housing-Communal Services.

The regulatory document also outlines strict responsibilities for specialized service providers. Routine technical maintenance must now be carried out on a strictly enforced monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual basis to prevent potential mechanical failures.

Furthermore, the legislation establishes clear behavioral rules for residents using the elevators. It is now officially prohibited to transport construction materials, debris, chemical substances with pungent odors, or any items that exceed the spatial dimensions of the elevator cabin.
