Judicial proceedings regarding a high-profile violent crime that deeply shocked the local community in the city of Shirin, Sirdaryo Region, have officially concluded with a formal court verdict. The tragic incident took place this April in the Amir Temur makhalla, where a 29-year-old woman carried out a brutal knife attack against the legal wife of her common-law partner and the woman's young children amid escalating domestic tensions.
According to court hearings and investigative files, the underlying motive for the bloodshed stemmed from long-standing disputes over family status and childbearing issues. The defendant had reportedly lived in a non-registered marriage with the man for six years and frequently instigated quarrels because children were continually born within the man's legal family while she allegedly faced restrictions regarding her own desire to have children. During the court session, the accused claimed that she was emotionally unstable at the time and supposedly did not realize what she was doing.
The violent assault resulted in the immediate deaths of the legal wife and her five-year-old daughter, while another three-year-old child sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital for emergency medical treatment. Relatives of the deceased noted that the tragedy left other young children behind, including an eight-year-old boy and a newborn infant of just twenty days old. Alisher Ergashev, chairman of the Shirin City Court on Criminal Cases, provided detailed official commentary on the proceedings.
Following the trial, the court found the defendant guilty of premeditated murder under aggravating circumstances and attempted murder under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code. Applying provisions for a mitigated sentence alongside partial stacking of penalties for multiple offenses, the court handed down a prison term of 13 years and 4 months. The convicted woman is mandated to serve her sentence in a general-regime penal colony.
