Preparatory works for the construction of the very first Uzbek school in Turkey are reportedly gaining momentum in Istanbul's Bakirköy district. According to official reports, the initiative is being financed by the government of Uzbekistan, while Turkish contracting firms will handle the physical construction. Plans indicate that the curriculum and educational process will strictly follow the Uzbek educational system, utilizing teachers originating from Uzbekistan.

Citing the «Dunyo» information agency, Sherzod Abdunazarov, Uzbekistan’s Consul General in Istanbul, held a strategic meeting with Bakirköy district administration head Ayşegyul Ovaliöğlu to discuss the implementation of the project. Both sides emphasized that the prospective school holds significant importance for educating the children of Uzbek expatriates living in Turkey, fostering a deep respect for their mother tongue and national heritage.

Observers note that the foundation stone for the educational institution was symbolically laid in January 2026 with the participation of the leadership of both Uzbekistan and Turkey. Since then, relevant authorities have been engaged in finalizing bureaucratic procedures and architectural designs. Following the latest discussions, the parties agreed to launch the construction phase as early as possible, with local municipal authorities offering full organizational support.

On the same day, the Uzbek Consul General reportedly held further talks with representatives from the Turkish Ministry of National Education and the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education. During these sessions, the Turkish side provided expert evaluations of the project alongside necessary corrections for identified deficiencies. Working meetings were subsequently held with staff from Özgüven, the company responsible for designing the complex, though exact dates for the groundbreaking and opening remain undisclosed.
