Authorities in the capital of Uzbekistan have initiated detailed atmospheric research aimed at identifying primary pollution sources and determining the factors contributing to the accumulation of harmful impurities. Specialists from the newly established atmospheric laboratory are collecting samples across all city districts to conduct thorough chemical and physical analyses. The findings are intended to form the basis for scientifically grounded policies designed to improve urban air quality.

The specialized laboratory center was established under the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change pursuant to a presidential decree. According to the center's management, experts are utilizing modern equipment and international methodologies to pinpoint the main pollution drivers. Air samples are gathered using specialized filters, after which the laboratory examines their composition and measures pollutant concentrations.

Researchers are also assessing the impact of weather conditions on the dispersion and trapping of hazardous particles. Particular attention is devoted to the autumn and winter seasons, when urban air quality issues become notably acute. Extended periods of drought lead to dust accumulation, while temperature inversions severely restrict vertical air mixing, preventing pollutants from dissipating near the ground surface.

Moving forward, the capital's laboratory experience is projected to be expanded to other regions of Uzbekistan. This initiative is expected to facilitate continuous atmospheric monitoring and support targeted interventions based on empirical research. Previously, officials from the National Climate Change Center highlighted that precipitation deficits, wind patterns, and disrupted natural ventilation significantly exacerbate atmospheric pollution.
