Law enforcement agencies in the Khorezm region have carried out an operational raid resulting in the apprehension of an official suspected of fraudulent activities. The joint operation was conducted by the Khorezm regional department of the General Prosecutor's Office along with other law enforcement bodies, targeting corrupt practices within local utility networks.

According to preliminary reports, Z.A., a legal inspector at the JSC «Khorezm Suv Taminoti», allegedly gained the trust of a citizen by promising to facilitate the connection of a commercial kiosk to the municipal drinking water supply. The suspect reportedly claimed he could secure the necessary technical permits through influential acquaintances in high positions, demanding and receiving 6 million soums in exchange for his purported services.

The suspect was caught red-handed with physical evidence while accepting the money. A criminal case has been initiated under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and an investigation is currently underway to determine all circumstances of the incident.
