Environmental authorities in Uzbekistan have temporarily halted operations at a brick manufacturing plant in the Namangan region following the detection of severe pollutant emissions. The National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change reported the enforcement action, highlighting ongoing efforts to curb industrial pollution across the country.

According to the official statements, inspections revealed substantial violations of environmental safety requirements, specifically concerning unregulated dust and gas emissions released directly into the atmosphere. Plant management has been served with mandatory compliance notices to rectify the shortcomings, while the facility's operations remain frozen until further notice.

Similar raids were subsequently carried out in the Andijan region, prompted by mounting complaints from local residents regarding heavy smoke and dust originating from regional brick and lime production sites. Complainants alleged that the persistent emissions significantly impaired local air quality and caused breathing difficulties for the surrounding population.

Environmental inspectors thoroughly checked the efficiency of dust and gas filtration systems installed at these facilities and collected mandatory samples for comprehensive laboratory testing. Officials stated that appropriate legal measures would be enforced based on the laboratory findings. Meanwhile, authorities in the Andijan region also dismantled two makeshift, unauthorized lime-burning kilns.

Regional environmental compliance checks remain ongoing throughout Uzbekistan as cities grapple with adverse weather conditions. Earlier, ecological committees warned that an atmospheric inversion layer—which prevents the natural dispersion of surface pollutants—could persist for approximately another ten days.
