A disturbing incident of animal abuse captured on surveillance footage in a residential building stairwell in Tashkent's Shaykhontohur district has sparked widespread public outcry and intense social media discussions. The widely circulated video allegedly showed a local resident ruthlessly pressing a defenseless kitten against the floor and twisting its front paw, highlighting ongoing concerns regarding societal attitudes toward animal welfare.

According to the press service of the Tashkent Main Department of Internal Affairs, law enforcement authorities launched an immediate investigation following the emergence of the footage. Investigators quickly identified the individual involved and initiated formal administrative proceedings under Article 111 of the Administrative Responsibility Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which pertains specifically to acts of cruelty against animals.

The case files were subsequently transferred to the Shaykhontohur Criminal Court for judicial review. Following the proceedings, the court sentenced the offender to seven days of administrative detention. Local veterinarians who examined the injured animal reportedly discovered a radius bone fracture, underscoring the severity of the physical harm inflicted during the incident.
